About our practice
Whitebridge Medical Centre has been servicing the local community for over 40 years. We pride ourselves on providing high quality, collaborative and longitudinal care to our patients and their families.
Fees: We are a private billing practice. It is our goal to always provide high quality services to our patients. This includes booking 10-15 minute appointments as a standard consultation and 20-30 minutes for a long consultation (depending on the doctor you see). We do this to ensure we have the time to discuss and explore any issues you are having and to try to address all concerns.
The medicare rebate provided for General Practice consults does not adequately cover the costs involved in providing quality care. Universal bulk billing would result in a level of medical service we think is inadequate and as such there will be an out of pocket cost for the majority of consultations attended. Our fee schedule can be seen below
We are an appointment only practice and do not provide “walk in” appointments.
2025 fees from 1st Jan 2025
Some patients may be offered a reduced out of pocket rate due to personal circumstances (such as pensioners or healthcare card holders and children under 14 years).
We do not accept cash payments and keep no cash on the premises
Sometimes medical issues are unexpectedly more complicated than first thought and don’t fit in neatly in the standard pre-booked appointment time. If that happens and both you and the doctor agree to go past the initial booked time, you may be charged an "up to 25 minute" fee.
Tests: If your doctor would like to speak with you about results of any tests performed our staff will contact you to make an appointment.
We encourage all patients to follow up with a phone call regarding their results. Reception staff can advise you of results if they have been checked by the GP and require no further action. For results that have been marked for follow up, an appointment will offered either face to face or via telehealth to discuss.
Home visits: Home visits are only offered in exceptional circumstances under the discretion of the GP. Telehealth options are also available for patients who have been seen face to face by our clinicians in the last 12 months.
After Hours: care for this practice we advise patients to present to LAKE MACQUARIE PRIVATE HOSPITAL ED or contact HealthDirect on 1800 022 222. The practice operates an after-hours service for existing patients only. Existing patients can call the practice line after hours and be directed through to the on-call clinician. This attracts an out-of-pocket fee ($400) but is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Patients are encouraged to access alternative services for any issues that they may deem to be an emergency, and this is for non-emergency scenarios only for existing patients. In medical emergencies you should always call 000.
